Mortgaging and Refinancing

Oshawa Mortgage Laywers

One of the biggest and most important purchases you will make in your lifetime is the purchase of your home, cottage or investment property. A mortgage is an integral part of most purchase transactions. A mortgage can allow you to purchase your first property, or to borrow against a property you already own to purchase another property. In today’s low interest rate environment, many homeowners are refinancing to consolidate high interest rate debts into a single, lower rate mortgage.

The real estate lawyers at Elliott and Hills will act for you (and often also for the company providing the mortgage) to ensure that all of the documents required to register your mortgage are completed accurately and in a timely manner. We have excellent working relationships with many local lenders including banks, credit unions and mortgage brokers. We work with you and your lender to ensure that any problems that arise are resolved and that your mortgage is registered and funds advanced on closing.

To enquire about mortgaging or refinancing a property, please contact senior real estate clerk Ted Groves at 1 905-571-1774. From our offices in Oshawa we represent clients throughout the Durham Region of Ontario.

To Our Valued Clients:

The lawyers and staff at Hills Nolan are taking all necessary precautions to ensure that we keep our work family, our clients and our colleagues as safe as possible during these extraordinary times. We have shifted our office to “virtual” spaces and we will be having meetings by telephone or videoconferences (using Zoom, a video platform). Please contact your lawyer or the responsible clerk via email. Currently, our receptionist and a limited number of staff are attending to deliveries, telephone calls and real estate transactions.

Given the rapidly changing conditions, this may change based on government directives or recommendations. We will do our best to keep you informed in a timely manner if conditions change and we need to adjust our current arrangements. For any new clients, please use the “Contact Us” link on our website.

Any deliveries of documents that cannot be emailed can be brought to the rear door of the office between 9 am and 5 pm. If you intend to drop off any documents, please call our receptionist to let her know. Please ring the bell at the back door and someone will be with you.

The health and well-being of our staff, our clients and our community is our highest priority. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this rather unique time! We must all do our part to “flatten the curve”.

We look forward to continuing to assist you in the same professional, high quality manner that you expect from all of us at Hills Nolan.
